Are Sufis an alternative to Salafis?
Is Sufism a copy of Buddhism? Is Sufism a continuation of monasticism? Is Sufism a heresy and a religion within a religion? Are the Sufis rivals to the supporters of political Islam? Is it possible for a person to be both a Sufi and a ruler sitting on the throne of power? Are all extremists really followers of the Salafi faith? Do the powerful countries of the world support the Sufis against the Salafists because of this fear? There are many unanswered questions like this, which are discussed in the discussions of the followers of religious groups and in the writings and interviews of researchers of religious movements. In this short research, I have tried to be cautious to the extent of being neutral and not to put my foot in the shadow of tradition and wisdom of reliable sources.

If one thinks that Ganga Sufism is a copy of Buddhism’s philosophy of self-torment and suffering; So maybe the chortle is an exaggeration and a flawed accusation. Because Buddhism does not believe in any god, supernatural, hell and heaven. Its founder (Gautama Buddha) was a reformer of Hinduism, a Nepalese prince who set some principles for his idea: (Life, death, nonexistence, existence and birth are all sorrow. No one should be punished for anger and rage. Anger itself is a punishment and there is no such thing as the Hereafter or Hell). Another thing is that the atrocities of Buddhists in Burma (Myanmar) and Sri Lanka are still fresh in everyone’s mind. Some of them killed the Muslims alive and some of them burned their bodies in ashes. So every believer knows that such an idea has no place in Islam. In Sufism there is solitude and isolation, but not the spiritual continuity of Christianity. Any mention of Christian monasticism in the Al-Ma’ida chapter is the identity of the church’s monks and religious stooges, and the Trinity or threefold faith is considered the core of their faith. But this kind of assessment about the Sufis is wrong; Because the doctrine of monotheism is the basis of the discipline and solitude of all Sufism.

Sufism has no definite history or founder. According to Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, it is a word that comes from the Greek philosophy of Sophia (wisdom and wisdom), which arose during the time of the Abbasid caliph, Ma’mun al-Rashid, and painted the wide edges of this caliphate with fun. . Why did it grow the most in Central Asia, Turkey and North Africa? According to an Al Jazeera report, Sufism today has 100 million followers in Africa alone. If it came from Al-Sufa, then it belongs to the poor group of the Companions who used to live in the Prophet’s Mosque and were called the Companions of Al-Sufa; Abu Huraira is the most famous companion. Of course, if it is derived from Sufism, which means wool, classical Sufis would wear woolen clothing even in hot weather for the sake of asceticism and austerity, but it is not very popular today.
