Jihad in the Qur’an, Jihad in Balasif / Translation: Wahid Azimi
Jihad has a special rank in Islam. Jihad does not mean war, the literal meaning of Jihad is to make the utmost struggle. A person who tries his best to achieve his goal; So it is called Jihad. Jihad is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an by two names: Jihad in the Qur’an and Jihad in the Holy Qur’an. Jihad with the Qur’an is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an as follows: “That is, fight with them with the help of the Qur’an, the great Jihad” (25:52). The clear goal of Jihad through the Qur’an is to spread the message of the Qur’an among the people in a theoretical form, that is, to do da’wah in a peaceful manner. The main mission of Islam is to call God. This is a simple message delivery work that will always be done in any case.
In the Qur’an, Jihad al-Saif is called “war” and it is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following words: “Fight with them until the fitna is over and the religion is only for the sake of Allah.” (8:39) It is clear from the words of this verse that this act of murder is not a free act, it is a limited act that continues only until the end of the fitna, when the fitna ends. So the killing ends.
Explanation of the Hadith!
In this Hadith, the words of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) are quoted: That is, Jihad will continue until the Day of Resurrection, from the time when Allah sent Muhammad (PBUH) and it will continue until the last group of Muslims. He will not be able to stop the oppression of the oppressor, nor the justice of the just. After considering the hadith, it is known that Jihad in the Qur’an is meant by this Jihad; Not Jihad Balsif. The hadith says that this jihad begins with the sending of the Prophet of Islam. Which Jihad was started after the Prophet of Islam, peace be upon him? As it is clear, after the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spent 13 years in Mecca, during this time he did not wage jihad and only spread the message of the Holy Quran. Another thing is that it has been said in the hadith that even if there was a time of the just king, Jihad would still be going on. It is clear that this does not mean Jihad against the righteous, because Jihad against the just ruler will be due to corruption, and Jihad against him will be based on the Qur’an, that is, the act of calling for peace. The debt of peace is a matter that is not only related to the debt of unjust and just rulers. The purpose of the act of da’aw is that the message of Allah should be delivered to every born woman and man. This is a completely peaceful process that will continue in every era.
The literal meaning of Jihad is to strive. Basically, the word Jihad is called a peaceful effort. For example, it is stated in the hadith: Jihadists are those who fight with their own souls to obey Allah (Ahmad, al-Zar, hadith: 23958). According to this tradition, Jihad is an act against oneself; So it is clear that when Jihad is done against one’s self, it will only be a peaceful Jihad, that is, controlling one’s desires. It is true that in the Holy Quran, the word Jihad has come to mean the call to God. The act of calling is a constant work, it is done in different ways and in different ways in every era. For example, explaining the Holy Qur’an in every language of the world through translation, creating special programs for Da’u’at, and sending and spreading the message of Islam through electronic devices in the present era, etc.
